History
Late Model started as a 2-piece acoustic band formed by Jerry and Luke in the Spring of 2012. Neither one of them had much more than raw musical talent or knowledge of the industry, but they knew they wanted to play their favorite country hits and perform them in front of a crowd. Their first show was a short set-list played at a massive year-end party known as the "Spring Stampede" in their college town of Bowling Green, Ohio. Just a few days later the duo performed the same short set at an open mic night at a bar in BG. They were asked to stop after their final song (God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood) because that particular establishment didn't want to hear any patriotic music for fear of offending someone in the crowd. This event started the Late Model tradition of ending every show with that particular song, sung a Capella by Luke.
During the summer of 2012, the duo performed full-length four hour shows at various watering holes, including a regular gig titled "Luke and Jerry's All-American Thursdays" in Green Springs, Ohio. Having some success with their acoustic endeavor, the two decided it would be more fun to establish a 4-piece band and introduce drums and bass guitar to the mix.
The name "Late Model" was adopted after a conversation in Luke's garage about racing in the fall of 2012, and has stuck ever since.
